Limited Service Laboratory Registration

Labs that only do certain clinical tests can register as Limited Service Laboratories. They register with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

These labs include:

Hospital extension clinics
Nursing homes
Home health care agencies
School/student health services
Dialysis centers
Outpatient surgery centers
County health departments
Correctional facilities
Ambulance/rescue squads
Other direct patient care places

These tests are allowed:

Wet mounts
Potassium hydroxide tests
Pinworm exams
Fern tests
Mucus tests after sex
Urinalysis
Fecal leukocyte exams
Semen analysis
Nasal smears

Labs owned by more than one group are included.
